WhatsApp usStaff checks and training
Every driver and passenger assistant must have an enhanced DBS check. Smart Group arranges the check on their behalf.
Passenger assistants complete PATS, first aid and behaviour management courses. Drivers are trained through their council licensing, which includes safeguarding.
Vehicle licensing and access
All our company vehicles are licensed by Wychavon Council. Drivers who use their own vehicles on our contracts may be licensed by Worcester, Redditch or Malvern councils.
Most of our wheelchair-accessible vehicles have a manual ramp. The driver helps with boarding, together with the passenger assistant where one is assigned.
Documents for schools and councils
Contact our team about the licensing and checks your school or council needs. Include the route or service you are asking about and any deadline.
If a passenger is upset or unwell
On routes with a passenger assistant, the assistant reports it straight away to our office and to the school or parent. We then report it to the council and the parents.
On routes without an assistant, the driver reports it to our office, and we let the parents, the school and the council know.
Raising a concern
If you have a concern about a Smart Group journey, contact the transport team. Tell us what happened, which journey was involved and when it took place.
Our Operations Manager is our safeguarding lead. To report a safeguarding concern, call or WhatsApp the office.
You can make a complaint by email to info@smartgrouptransport.co.uk or by WhatsApp. We aim to deal with complaints within 48 hours.
For an urgent issue, call or WhatsApp the office on 01905 905 504. A general website enquiry is not an urgent contact channel.
