Our drivers carry passengers between home and school in cars, MPVs and minibuses. Some routes include a passenger assistant.
On routes without an assistant, passengers generally board independently. The driver knocks at the door, takes the passenger to school and returns in the afternoon.
Licences and checks
You need to have held a UK driving licence for at least 3 years and have a clean DBS record. Drivers already licensed with Wychavon Council are preferred.
Every driver and passenger assistant must have an enhanced DBS check. Smart Group arranges and pays for the check.
New to school transport?
You can apply without school transport experience or a private hire badge. We help new drivers through the licensing steps. Your training comes through council licensing, which includes safeguarding.
Working hours and location
We are always recruiting drivers in Worcestershire. Morning journeys run from 7am until 10am at the latest, and afternoon journeys from 2pm until 5pm at the latest. Times vary by route.
Pay is competitive and depends on the route. Most of our drivers are self-employed, and you can ask to be employed instead.
